Kia America Reports Record-Breaking Sales Of 74,805 Units In April 2025
Kia America achieved a record-breaking sales figure in April 2025, delivering 74,805 units. This represents a 14% increase compared to April 2024 and marks the highest-ever sales for the month. The company's sales streak has now extended to seven consecutive months, with retail sales at Kia dealerships rising by 24% over the previous year.
Sales of Kia's electrified models also saw a significant boost, increasing by 21% compared to April 2024. The Telluride and Sportage SUVs set new records with increases of 21% and 18%, respectively. The K4 and Carnival MPV also achieved best-ever April sales, with the Carnival seeing a remarkable 79% rise due to its hybrid variant launch last year.
At the New York International Auto Show, Kia unveiled several new models. These included the EV4 sedan, K4 hatchback, and EV9 Nightfall Edition. The EV4 is Kia's first global electric sedan, aiming to broaden EV appeal through innovation and design. The K4 hatchback offers greater cargo flexibility while maintaining the sedan's successful features.
The EV9 Nightfall Edition features Gloss Black accents and exclusive wheels. At the same event, the Kia EV3 was named 'World Car of the Year' for 2025. This marked Kia's second consecutive win in this category after the EV9 won in April 2024.
Kia was honoured as 'Sustainability Disruptor of the Year' at the Newsweek Auto Disruptor Awards in 2025. This recognition highlights Kia's partnership with The Ocean Cleanup to remove plastics from oceans. It underscores Kia's commitment to environmental initiatives and sustainability efforts.
Eric Watson, vice president of sales operations at Kia America, stated: "Reporting sales records for seven consecutive months has bolstered the Kia brand even more and we remain dedicated to further strengthening our product lineup and enhancing customer satisfaction through ongoing innovation."
Production and Charging Advancements
Kia has started producing EV6 and EV9 models at its Georgia facility, where they qualify for federal tax incentives. Additionally, adopting CCS and NACS charging standards allows access to over 40,000 charging points nationwide. This enhances charging flexibility for Kia's electric vehicle customers.
