MG Motor India Becomes First OEM To Do This! Cuts 1,800 Tons Of Carbon Emissions
JSW MG Motor India has taken a significant stride towards environmental conservation by being the first Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to introduce a Green Pretreatment line in their Paint Shop.
This innovation, a collaboration with PPG Asian Paints, employs ambient temperature phosphate technology at 38°C in the Pretreatment Electrodeposition (PT-ED) line, marking a departure from traditional methods that operate between 42 ~ 50°C. This advancement not only signifies a leap in sustainable manufacturing practices but also results in a notable decrease in carbon emissions by approximately 1800 tons annually during the pretreatment process.
The adoption of ambient temperature phosphate technology is a testament to JSW MG Motor India's dedication to sustainability. By eliminating the necessity for heating in the pretreatment process, this method achieves substantial fuel savings and reduces fuel consumption significantly.
Moreover, it simplifies operational procedures and minimizes maintenance needs, enhancing overall process efficiency. The implementation of this technology underscores the company's commitment to pioneering eco-friendly practices within the automotive industry, setting a new standard for environmental responsibility.

Further demonstrating its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint, in 2022, JSW MG Motor India became one of the first automotive brands globally to utilize ULTRAX Degreaser and High Throw Low Cure Cathodic Electro Coating Paint developed by PPG Asian Paints. These initiatives, alongside the adoption of Low-Temperature Phosphate (VERSABOND), have collectively resulted in a 47% reduction in carbon emissions, equating to a considerable decrease in CO2 output.
