Jenson Button To Serve As Grand Marshal At Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion This August
WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca has announced that Jenson Button, a celebrated Formula 1 champion from Britain, will be the Grand Marshal for the 51st Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. The event is scheduled from August 13 to 16. Button, who has been a regular participant in this motorsport gathering, will engage in various roles such as guest commentator during the Mario Andretti Trophy race and participating in opening ceremonies.
Button's involvement extends beyond ceremonial duties. He will also compete in several categories during the event. His cars include a 1967 Alfa Romeo GT Jr., a 2011 Porsche 997 GT3 Cup, and a 1996 IROC Pontiac Firebird in the Unser Family Cup IROC group. "I am incredibly honored to be named Grand Marshal of this legendary event," said Button. "This is the ultimate gathering of motorsports history and icons from the racing world, and I couldn’t be prouder to play a part."
Jenson Button is renowned for his extensive career in Formula One, where he competed for 17 seasons. He achieved significant success by winning the 2009 Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championship with Brawn GP and securing 15 race victories throughout his F1 career. Currently, he races in the FIA World Endurance Championship for Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA and recently secured a podium finish at Interlagos in Brazil.
Button's racing portfolio is diverse, having participated in events like the NASCAR Cup Series, Race of Champions, and endurance races such as the Rolex 24 at Daytona. His versatility across different racing formats highlights his adaptability and skill on various tracks.
This year's Rolex Reunion will prominently feature an official celebration marking Formula 1's 75th anniversary. A highlight will be the daily Mario Andretti Trophy race showcasing 25 iconic F1 cars from the non-turbo era between 1966 and 1985. Additionally, over 30 historic Formula 1 cars will be displayed in an exhibition within the paddock area.
The exhibition will include rare models like the 1956 Maserati 250F, the 1966 Eagle Mk1, and the Benetton B186-05 from 1986. Modern vehicles such as Lando Norris' McLaren MCL38, which won the Constructors’ Championship in 2024, will also be featured.

The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion will see more than 400 period-correct cars competing across 14 race groups. This includes a first-ever IROC race group featuring NASCAR legends. The event promises to deliver thrilling races that appeal to motorsport enthusiasts worldwide.
