Honda Continues Winning Streak At Java House Grand Prix Of Monterey With Alex Palou Leading Championship
Honda has consistently excelled at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca since the NTT INDYCAR SERIES returned in 2019. Colton Herta and Alex Palou have each secured two victories, while Scott Dixon triumphed in 2023. Honda's legacy at this track began with a win in 1996, following Alex Zanardi's famous move in the Corkscrew. Jimmy Vasser and Helio Castroneves also contributed to Honda's success here.
Alex Palou is leading the championship by 99 points with four races left in the season. He has already achieved seven wins, including his first Indy 500 victory. Although he can't clinch the title in Monterey, an eighth win could bring him closer to securing his fourth championship in five years. Palou has previously won twice at this track.
This year, Honda-powered teams have shown remarkable performance, with every team achieving either a pole position or podium finish. Chip Ganassi Racing has seen all three drivers on the podium, with Palou and Dixon winning races and Kyffin Simpson earning his first IndyCar podium in Toronto. Kyle Kirkwood has claimed three victories, joined by teammate Colton Herta on the podium in Detroit.
Meyer Shank Racing's Felix Rosenqvist and Marcus Armstrong each have a podium finish. Dale Coyne Racing's Rinus VeeKay secured second place in Toronto, marking his first podium since joining Honda this season. Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing is still pursuing their first podium of the year but remains competitive, with rookie Louis Foster taking pole at Road America.
The Rookie of the Year race is intense, with Louis Foster and Robert Shwartzman tied for points. Meanwhile, Honda leads Chevrolet by 205 points in the manufacturers' standings due to impressive results across all teams.
