Jameel Motors UK Expands Leadership Team As Farizon SV Van Launch Gains Momentum
Jameel Motors UK has expanded its leadership team with strategic appointments to boost its presence in the UK market. Calum James has been named Head of Sales, and Sujai Sugathan takes on the role of Head of Aftersales. These appointments follow Kate McLaren's appointment as Head of Marketing and Sales Operations in January and Jeremy Wood's as Head of Finance in February.
Jeremy Wood, who joined Jameel Motors in February, is now acting Managing Director for Jameel Motors (Farizon Auto UK). He steps into this role while the company searches for a permanent replacement for Tom Carney, who left for personal reasons. Wood brings eight years of senior experience in the automotive industry, having worked at Marshall Motor Group and MG Motor UK.
The recent appointments are part of Jameel Motors' strategy to support fleet and SME customers as it launches the Farizon SV large van in the UK. The vehicle was officially introduced at the CV Show last week, receiving significant interest from the fleet sector. This move aims to accelerate Jameel Motors' launch phase in the UK market.
Calum James joins Jameel Motors after an 11-year tenure at Mercedes-Benz in the UK. His roles included Fleet Development Manager and Aftersales District Manager for London. Most recently, he served as Head of Corporate Sales for Mercedes-Benz Vans. His extensive experience will be crucial as Jameel Motors seeks to capture a significant share of the UK's electric van market.
Sujai Sugathan brings over 20 years of automotive aftersales expertise from both the UK and India. He began his career as Service Head at Popular Vehicles & Services Ltd, Kerala's first Maruti Suzuki dealer. Later, he joined Mahindra and Mahindra as Customer Care Manager before moving to Škoda India as Area Service Manager.
Sugathan's most recent position was Aftersales Manager at Sherbet Electric Taxis, a LEVC specialist. His diverse background will be instrumental in supporting Jameel Motors' aftersales operations as they expand their footprint in the UK market.
Company Background and Future Plans
Established in 2016, Farizon is Geely's commercial vehicle division and China's largest private vehicle manufacturer. The Farizon SV is being introduced to the UK by Jameel Motors UK, based in London. With a complete leadership team now in place, Jameel Motors is well-positioned to capitalise on strong interest from fleet customers.
Kate McLaren adds 30 years of automotive OEM experience to Jameel Motors. She has held senior roles with brands like Citroën, Renault, Fiat, and Kia UK. Her expertise lies in product and brand management and customer quality, which will aid Jameel Motors' marketing efforts.
Farizon's Commitment to Innovation
Farizon New Energy Commercial Vehicle Group is a subsidiary of Geely Holding Group. It operates China's largest new energy commercial vehicle research institute, focusing on green and intelligent commercial vehicle products using "Methanol-Hydrogen + Electric" technology routes.
The company has doubled its Chinese market share for three consecutive years with a product market share exceeding 20%. This year marks a milestone with 300,000 unit sales achieved by Farizon, solidifying its leadership position in China's new energy commercial vehicle industry.
Commenting on these developments, Jeremy Wood stated: "Calum and Sujai have joined Jameel Motors at a crucial moment... Their experience will be invaluable as we execute our ambitious plan for the Farizon SV to win a major market share in the growing UK electric van market."
