Jameel Motors Partners With GAC To Launch New Electric Vehicles In The UK Market
Jameel Motors has partnered with GAC to distribute electric vehicles (EVs) in the UK. This collaboration will introduce the AION V SUV and AION UT hatchback, with more models planned. The venture expands Jameel Motors' UK portfolio to include passenger vehicles, marking GAC's entry into a new market.
The agreement enhances Jameel Motors' existing UK operations, where it already distributes Farizon Auto's electric commercial vehicles. This marks its first foray into passenger vehicle distribution in the region. The partnership aims to boost EV adoption in the UK, offering customers more choices and driving market growth.
Jameel Motors has been a key player in the automotive industry for over 80 years, providing mobility solutions and representing top brands worldwide. Meanwhile, GAC is a major Chinese automaker known for its innovation and quality. The joint venture aligns with both companies' goals of expanding their global reach.
The initial launch will feature two all-electric models from GAC AION: the AION V, a C-segment SUV, and the AION UT, a B-segment hatchback. These models highlight GAC's strengths in quality and technology, meeting the growing demand for high-quality EVs among UK drivers.
GAC's President, Wayne Wei, stated: "GAC's entry into the UK marks a crucial step in its internationalisation strategy. As we set foot in this dynamic market, GAC is committed to bringing industry-leading products and first-class services to UK consumers."
Strategic Vision
The collaboration reflects a shared vision between Jameel Motors and GAC to meet the UK's increasing demand for cleaner passenger vehicles. Jasmmine Wong, CEO of Jameel Motors, expressed excitement about this opportunity: "The joint venture with GAC represents a shared vision, and an exciting opportunity to meet the UK's growing demand for smarter, cleaner passenger vehicles."
GAC ranks 181st on the Fortune Global 500 list and is recognised internationally for its high-quality vehicles and commitment to sustainability. Its business spans various sectors including R&D, auto parts, energy solutions, and international trade.
Global Expansion Efforts
Jameel Motors operates in over 10 countries across regions such as the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia, and Australia. This agreement signifies another milestone as it continues to expand globally while embracing innovation for future mobility solutions.
In April 2025, Jameel Motors secured a distribution agreement for GAC in Poland through competitive bidding involving local and international firms. This innovative joint venture with GAC is among the first of its kind with a Chinese automaker in the UK.
GAC has achieved significant milestones in its international expansion efforts. In 2024 alone, overseas sales of its self-branded vehicles surpassed 100,000 units—a remarkable 92.3% increase from the previous year.
A Growing EV Market
The UK's EV market is rapidly expanding; battery electric vehicle registrations rose by 25.8% year-on-year as of May 2025 according to SMMT data[1]. With BEVs accounting for 21.8% of new car sales during this period—this makes it an attractive hub for EV adoption.
This strategic partnership between Jameel Motors and GAC aims at capitalising on this growth potential by introducing new electric vehicle options into this burgeoning market segment within Britain’s automotive landscape.
