IMSA Series: BMW M Team RLL Celebrates First Victory With 1-2 Finish At Road America
BMW M Team RLL achieved its first victory of the season with a remarkable 1-2 finish at Road America. Philipp Eng and Dries Vanthoor led the charge in the BMW M Hybrid V8, while Neil Verhagen and Madison Snow triumphed in the GTD PRO class.
Philipp Eng and Dries Vanthoor secured their first win of the season for BMW M Hybrid V8 at the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in Road America. Their teammates, Sheldon van der Linde and Marco Wittmann, finished second, completing a one-two finish. This victory marked a significant achievement for BMW M Team RLL after previous pole positions and podium finishes.
The race was not without challenges. Both BMW M Hybrid V8 cars started from strong grid positions but faced setbacks during a pit stop incident that injured a mechanic. Despite this, strategic decisions during yellow flag periods allowed them to regain the lead. Eng and Wittmann maintained their positions amidst heavy traffic, showcasing the team's resilience.
Paul Miller Racing also celebrated as Neil Verhagen and Madison Snow won in the GTD PRO class with the #1 BMW M4 GT3 EVO. This victory added to their earlier success at Watkins Glen, highlighting the strength of BMW's GT3 car globally. Meanwhile, Turner Motorsport narrowly missed a podium finish in the GTD class, with Robby Foley and Patrick Gallagher finishing fourth.

Dries Vanthoor shared his excitement: "This is a fantastic result for BMW M Motorsport with the one-two finish in the GTP class and the victory in the GTD PRO class." He highlighted how they finally capitalised on their speed after earlier struggles.
Marco Wittmann expressed relief: "A great result for us as BMW M Motorsport and BMW M Team RLL. It’s a bit of a relief after the last few races." He noted that everything worked well this time due to good strategy and strong pace.
