Hyundai Celebrates First IMSA TCR Victory At Daytona With A Thrilling 1-2 Finish
Hyundai Motor America and Bryan Herta Autosport (BHA) achieved a remarkable 1-2 finish in the opening race of the 2025 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge at Daytona International Speedway. The No. 76 Hyundai Elantra N TCR, driven by Denis Dupont and Preston Brown, narrowly edged out the No. 33 Hyundai Elantra N TCR, piloted by Mark Wilkins and Bryson Morris, in a thrilling race.
Hyundai showcased its strength from the start, with the No. 33 car securing pole position. The No. 98 car, driven by Mason Filippi and Harry Gottsacker, began in the second row. Throughout the race, Hyundai maintained control at the front, with lead changes between their cars and Victor Gonzalez Racing's No. 99 entry.
The race saw impressive performances from other Hyundai teams as well. Madison Aust and Suellio Almeida in the No. 9 Hyundai N TCR climbed two positions to finish fourth despite an early penalty. Meanwhile, Lance Bergstein and Jon Miller secured sixth place for Victor Gonzalez Racing in the No. 18 car.
Hyundai Hope On Wheels raised $10,500 for charity during this event. This was due to Hyundai leading 105 out of 109 laps at Daytona. The funds will be donated to AdventHealth Central Florida Hospital as part of their ongoing commitment to community support.
The No. 72 car driven by Riley Pegram and Larry Pegram was making progress through the field when an incident with two other cars ended their race prematurely. Despite setbacks, Hyundai's performance echoed their success from previous years with another pole position and double-podium finish.
IMSA Championship Standings
