Hyundai Achieves Second Consecutive Victory At Sebring In 2025 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge
Hyundai Motor America and Bryan Herta Autosport (BHA) have continued their successful run in the 2025 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. They secured a win at the Alan Jay Automotive 120, held at Sebring International Raceway. The No. 98 Hyundai Elantra N TCR, driven by Mason Filippi and Harry Gottsacker, emerged victorious after post-race technical checks, marking Hyundai's second consecutive win this season.
The race began with Hyundai cars occupying the front row. The No. 33 car started from pole position, while the No. 98 was in second place. Both vehicles faced stiff competition early on, with the No. 98 dropping to fourth and the No. 33 briefly losing its lead. A penalty for the No. 76 car further affected Hyundai’s positions during the initial stages.
Despite early setbacks, Hyundai showed resilience as the race progressed. The No. 33 car regained its lead just past halfway through the race. Meanwhile, strategic moves by the No. 98 car kept it in contention as the race neared its end. With one lap left, fuel issues for another team allowed Hyundai to shuffle positions.
When the race concluded, Hyundai initially celebrated a first and second-place finish with cars No. 33 and No. 98 leading the field. However, a post-race technical violation led to disqualification of the No. 33 car, officially making the No. 98 car the winner.
This victory extends Hyundai's podium streak at Sebring to six consecutive seasons, reinforcing its strong presence in IMSA’s TCR category. Additionally, Hyundai now leads in the 2025 IMPC Manufacturers’ Championship standings, building on their earlier success at Daytona.
The next event on the IMPC calendar is scheduled for May 11 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, which is considered Hyundai’s home race. The team aims to maintain their winning momentum as they move forward in the season.
