Hyundai Tucson Premium SUV Discontinued In India
Hyundai has finally pulled the plug on its flagship SUV, the Tucson, in India. Launched three years ago, the Tucson was positioned to dominate the premium SUV segment. However, it struggled to gain traction among buyers and has now been quietly removed from the company's official website.
The fourth-generation Hyundai Tucson was launched back in 2022. It was one of Hyundai's global products that offered superior build quality, premium interiors and tech. The Hyundai Tucson offered two engine options. The first one is a 2.0 Litre petrol engine with 156 PS and 192 Nm torque, mated with a six-speed automatic gearbox.

And the second had a 2.0 litre diesel engine that produces 186 PS and 416 Nm torque paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Diesel variant had an AWD system with Multiple terrain modes: Snow, Mud and Sand.
On the Inside, it had a dual 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, connected-car technology, and a Bose Sound system. For safety, it had ABS with EBD, ADAS, 6 airbags, cruise control, Hill Hold assist, all-wheel disc brakes and a 5-star rating at the Bharat NCAP crash test.
Reasons for the Hyundai Tucson Discontinuation

The biggest reason for its failure was its high price tag, which was above 30 lakhs. For this price, consumers had many other options, such as the Jeep Compass, Volkswagen Tiguan and Citroen C5 Aircross. At the same time, cars like the Mahindra XUV 700, Mahindra Scorpio N, and Hyundai Creta offered better features than the Tucson at a more affordable price.
The Hyundai Creta offers nearly 80% of the features found in the Tucson, making it a more attractive option for buyers at almost half the price. Compact SUVs like the Creta continue to dominate the market by delivering better value and affordability compared to premium models. Hyundai recently launched the Venue facelift and is now gearing up to introduce a new full-size off-road SUV and a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) in the coming years.
