Hyundai Motor Group And Suprema Partner To Develop AI-Driven Robot-Friendly Security Solutions

Hyundai Motor Group and Suprema have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to create a comprehensive security solution that integrates robotics and artificial intelligence (AI). This partnership aims to establish new industry standards by merging access control with physical security solutions, enhancing robot-friendly building services.

The collaboration between Hyundai's Robotics LAB and Suprema will focus on developing a Robotics Total Solution (RTS) model. This model will integrate facial recognition technology for both robots and access systems, aiming to overcome infrastructural challenges and enhance mobility in intelligent spaces. The first successful deployment occurred at Factorial Seongsu, Korea’s first commercial robot-friendly building.

Hyundai and Suprema Team Up for AI Security

Dong Jin Hyun, Vice President of Hyundai Motor Group and Head of Robotics LAB, stated, "Access control serves a critical function in developing intelligent robot-friendly spaces. Through integration with access control solutions, we will propose a new industry standard in which robots with humans overcome infrastructural issues and take advantage of greater mobility and seamless services."

The partnership will also explore the integration of AI with the Internet of Things (IoT), known as AIoT. This integration aims to advance autonomous driving capabilities for robots, enhancing services like food delivery within robot-friendly buildings. The collaboration seeks to develop technologies that integrate robots with infrastructure, enabling various autonomous services.

Hanchul Kim, CEO of Suprema Inc., remarked, "This partnership marks a significant milestone as we open a new era of unmanned security services that integrate AI and robotics." He added that they plan to expand their portfolio with Hyundai Motor Group Robotics LAB to develop an AI-driven robot-friendly building security system.

Advancing Physical Security Standards

The joint effort will focus on creating new mobility-enabled solutions for the physical security industry. By leveraging Hyundai's advanced robotics technology and Suprema's expertise in biometric access control solutions, the partnership aims to set new benchmarks through innovative hardware, software, and AI technologies.

Suprema plans to minimize the development period required for expanding the robot operating range by using its access application programming interface (API). This approach eliminates the need for direct integration with each manufacturer for infrastructure like speed gates and elevators necessary for autonomous driving.
