Hyundai Strengthens STEM Education Initiatives In Coastal Georgia Through Partnerships And Scholarships
Hyundai has reinforced its commitment to education in Coastal Georgia by investing in STEM initiatives. This includes partnerships with the SAE Foundation and H2GP Foundation, as well as financial support for Georgia Southern University. These efforts aim to enhance educational opportunities and inspire students towards careers in science, technology, engineering, and math.
Hyundai's collaboration with the SAE Foundation brings the A World In Motion (AWIM) program to Bryan County School District. This award-winning initiative engages students from PreK-12 in STEM learning through hands-on activities. The program is designed to prepare students for future educational and career success by making STEM concepts tangible and relatable.
The AWIM skimmer challenge was introduced to fourth graders across Bryan County. Around 800 students participated, designing fan-propelled paper sailboats. This activity taught them about air resistance, propulsion, and teamwork while connecting classroom learning to real-world applications at Hyundai's Metaplant America.
Brandon Ramirez of Hyundai Motor North America stated, "At Hyundai, we believe quality education holds the key towards bright futures for children." He emphasised the importance of investing in local communities like Coastal Georgia by providing educational opportunities that inspire career pathways at Hyundai's facilities.
In partnership with the H2GP Foundation, Hyundai has expanded its Hydrogen STEM Program over three years. The initiative has reached over 1,000 students across California, Georgia, Michigan, and Alabama. Students learn about hydrogen fuel cells and clean energy while building model vehicles using recycled materials.
The program recently took place at Bulloch County Boys & Girls Club. Students constructed hydrogen-powered vehicles and tested them on a Hyundai-branded racetrack. This curriculum introduces clean energy fundamentals and showcases Hyundai's work in sustainable energy sectors.
Georgia Southern University Partnership
Hyundai has donated $25,000 to Georgia Southern University for STEM scholarships. This contribution increases their total donation to $55,000 since the partnership began three years ago. These scholarships support undergraduate students pursuing degrees in STEM fields near Hyundai's Metaplant America.
The H2GP Foundation also plays a significant role in promoting renewable energy education. It provides accessible programs that train young leaders in hydrogen and sustainable energy concepts through hands-on learning experiences.
A World In Motion Program Impact
The SAE Foundation supports various educational programs including AWIM which has engaged over 6 million students globally. It connects classroom learning with real-life applications through mentorship from industry professionals. The foundation aims to equip students with skills needed for success in modern work environments.
Jonathan Shearer from Bryan County Schools praised AWIM's impact: "AWIM’s skimmer challenge has been a valuable hands-on learning experience for our fourth graders." He expressed gratitude towards Hyundai for strengthening students' STEM foundations while introducing them to future career paths.
Hyundai RC Program
The inaugural Georgia Hydrogen Grand Prix featured 16 teams sponsored by Hyundai as part of their RC Program. Students designed hydrogen-powered RC cars for this competition which equips them with engineering skills related to renewable energy technologies.
The winning team will compete at the H2GP World Finals in Germany later this year while top all-girls teams participate in Girls In STEM competitions further encouraging diversity within these fields.
