Hyundai Sales January 2025 - Domestic Sales Drop As Creta Breaks Records
Kicking off 2025 with a bang, South Korean carmaker Hyundai reported impressive sales figures for January, totalling 65,603 units. This encompassed both domestic and international sales, with 54,003 vehicles being purchased within India and 11,600 units finding their way to overseas customers.
The big highlight of Hyundai sales in January was the Creta SUV, which not only dominated the firm's sales but also set a new record with 18,522 units finding new homes in January. Helping the SUV break its own record was the launch of the Hyundai Creta Electric, the firm's first mass-market EV for India, at Auto Expo 2025.

Hyundai's Export and Domestic Sales Numbers
For Hyundai, domestic sales accounted for 54,003 units sold in January. Domestic sales were up by nearly 28 per cent (11,795 units) M-o-M compared to December 2024, when the Korean marque sold 42,208 units.
However, for the third month in a row, Hyundai's domestic numbers were in the red when compared to the corresponding period from a year before. Y-o-Y domestic sales dropped by 5.45 per cent or 3,113 units compared to January 2024's 57,115 units.

In terms of exports, Hyundai documented a 10.48 per cent (1,100 units) increase in exports year-on-year, with 11,600 units shipped abroad in January 2025 compare to the 10,500 units shipped in the same period in 2024.
Commenting on the firm's sales in January, Tarun Garg, Whole-time Director and Chief Operating Officer, Hyundai Motor India Limited said, "We have reinforced HMIL's position as a world-class manufacturing hub registering a 10.5% YoY growth in exports in January on the back of stable demand for our products in the overseas markets. Domestically, our first indigenous electric SUV - the Hyundai CRETA Electric which was launched in Bharat Mobility on 17th January 2025, has begun its innings on a strong note. It has helped propel brand CRETA to its highest ever domestic monthly sales of 18,522 units, in January 2025. Ushering in the electric revolution by developing a smart and efficient EV ecosystem to alleviate range-anxiety, HMIL is set to mainstream EVs in India and will continue to augment charging infrastructure across the country. We are confident that Hyundai CRETA Electric will set new benchmarks in the Indian EV industry, providing the much-needed push for the growth of the segment."
