Hyundai Partners With Nicklaus Children's Hospital To Improve Child Passenger Safety In South Florida
Hyundai Motor America has contributed $25,000 to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital to support its Car Seat Safety Program. This initiative is part of Hyundai Hope, a corporate social responsibility effort aimed at enhancing community health and safety. The donation will help the hospital expand its child passenger safety education and offer more free car seat safety checks and installations.
Research by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) highlights that proper car seat use significantly reduces injuries in crashes. However, many parents struggle to access suitable car seats and may unknowingly use expired or recalled ones. Programs like the one at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital are vital in educating parents about car seat safety and providing necessary resources.
Nicklaus Children’s Hospital leads the Miami-Dade County SAFE KIDS Coalition, focusing on preventing childhood injuries. The hospital's Car Seat Safety Program offers free onsite checks and installations, ensuring families use appropriate car seats for their child's age and weight. It also provides specialized seats for children with special needs.
The program conducts around 225 car seat installations annually and educates over 500 caregivers on child passenger safety topics, including vehicular heatstroke prevention. Since partnering with Hyundai Hope in 2024, the hospital has expanded its reach through community events, offering over 100 additional car seat checks each year.
Cole Stutz, chief safety officer at Hyundai Motor North America, stated, "Keeping children safe on the road requires more than just advanced vehicle technology—it takes awareness, education, and community action." Hyundai is committed to empowering families with tools to protect young passengers.
Malvina Duncan from Nicklaus Children’s Hospital emphasized their dedication to child safety: "Thanks to Hyundai and their continuous commitment to our Car Seat Safety Program, we are able to provide more families with the education and tools that meet their child’s needs and ensure their children are safe on the road."
