Hyundai Motor America Recognised As Gold Winner For CSR At 2025 Merit Awards
Hyundai Motor America has been recognised as a Gold Winner in the 2025 Merit Awards for Human Resources. This accolade highlights their efforts in Community Engagement and Corporate Social Responsibility, particularly through STEM education initiatives in Coastal Georgia. This region hosts Hyundai's first dedicated electric vehicle mass-production plant, the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America, located in Bryan County.
"Hyundai is honored to receive this award for our STEM education initiatives in Coastal Georgia, underscoring our commitment to Progress for Humanity," stated Brandon Ramirez, director of corporate social responsibility at Hyundai Motor North America. "We are dedicated to empowering the next generation with the knowledge and skills required to lead in a technology-driven world, while fostering excitement for learning. We are proud to support young people through our initiatives and hopefully inspire some to pursue meaningful careers in clean energy and the automotive industry."

In collaboration with the SAE Foundation, Hyundai introduced SAE International’s A World In Motion (AWIM) PreK-12 STEM program to fourth graders in Bryan County School District. The curriculum covered essential concepts like air resistance and propulsion, linking them to real-world applications such as renewable energy resources and emission reduction technologies at HMGMA.
Additionally, Hyundai expanded its partnership with the H2GP Foundation by sponsoring 16 teams from Bryan County for the inaugural Georgia Hydrogen Grand Prix. This event is part of the Hyundai RC Program, where students design, build, and race hydrogen-powered RC cars. It aims to equip students with vital skills in engineering and renewable energy.
Hyundai's operations significantly impact the U.S. economy, contributing $20.1 billion annually and supporting 190,000 jobs. Their presence includes a headquarters in California, an assembly plant in Alabama, and several R&D facilities. These efforts align with Hyundai's vision of Progress for Humanity.
The Merit Awards for HR assess submissions based on leadership, innovation, and positive work environments. The judging panel consists of journalists, executives, consultants, entrepreneurs, educators, and Merit Awards staff members who evaluate these criteria.
Through these educational programs, Hyundai aims to provide equitable access to high-quality STEM education across Coastal Georgia. By engaging students with hands-on learning experiences that foster critical thinking and creativity, they hope to inspire future career paths in clean energy and automotive technology.
The company's commitment extends beyond education; it offers a diverse lineup of vehicles rich in technology for U.S. consumers while supporting its overarching vision of Progress for Humanity.
Hyundai's initiatives not only enhance educational opportunities but also contribute significantly to local communities by creating jobs and driving economic growth through their extensive operations across the United States.
