Hyundai N Achieves Fifth Straight TCR Class Victory In Its 10th Consecutive Nürburgring Race
Hyundai's N brand celebrated a significant milestone at the ADAC RAVENOL 24-hour Nürburgring race, marking its tenth consecutive participation and securing a fifth straight TCR class victory. The event, held from June 21-22 in Nurburg, Germany, showcased Hyundai's technological prowess and motorsport excellence. Two ELANTRA N TCR cars dominated the TCR category with a one-two finish, highlighting the durability and performance of Hyundai's high-performance vehicles.
The Nürburgring endurance race is renowned for its challenging 25.378-kilometer Nordschleife track. It tests drivers' speed, skill, and stamina over 24 hours. Since debuting in 2016, Hyundai has used this platform to enhance its production-based N brand vehicles. The race provides valuable data to improve performance and durability, reinforcing Hyundai's commitment to innovation and excellence.
Hyundai N's TCR team achieved its fifth consecutive class victory with a German driver lineup featuring Marc Basseng, Manuel Lauck, and Christer Joens in ELANTRA N #1. Meanwhile, the North American team—comprising Bryson Morris, Michael Lewis, Mason Filippi, and Robert Wickens—secured second place with ELANTRA N #2. Wickens' return to racing after a hiatus was notable as he drove with a custom hand-control system.
Joon Park, Vice President and Head of N Brand Management Group, expressed delight at the team's achievements: "We are elated with our fifth straight victory in the Nürburgring TCR class and our 10th consecutive year of participation." He emphasized that this success reflects Hyundai's commitment to motorsport and advancing high-performance technology.
This year also saw Hyundai debut in the SP3T class with the ELANTRA N1 Cup car. Unfortunately, it retired after 17 hours due to a rear-end collision. Despite this setback, Hyundai demonstrated resilience by collaborating with Toyota at a joint booth during the Nürburgring event. This partnership highlighted how motorsport fosters collaboration beyond competition.
The collaboration between Hyundai and Toyota builds on camaraderie established at previous events like the "Hyundai N x TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Festival" in Korea and their joint presence at the final round of the 2024 World Rally Championship in Japan. Together, they shared their passion for performance and innovation with fans worldwide.
