Hyundai Motor And Robotics LAB Achieve 17 GOOD DESIGN® Awards For Design Excellence In Multiple Categories
Hyundai Motor Company and its Robotics LAB division have been honoured with 17 GOOD DESIGN® Awards in 2024. Hyundai Motor secured 12 awards, while the Robotics LAB received five accolades in the Robotics category. These achievements highlight Hyundai's commitment to design excellence across various fields.
SangYup Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Hyundai and Genesis Global Design, expressed pride in receiving these awards. "We are honored to receive recognition from the GOOD DESIGN® Awards, reaffirming our design excellence across various fields," he stated. This acknowledgment underscores the global competitiveness of Hyundai's design identity.
The GOOD DESIGN® Awards, established in 1950, are renowned for their authenticity and authority. They are jointly presented by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies. The awards evaluate products based on aesthetics, innovation, technology, form, material, concept, function, utility, energy efficiency, and environmental friendliness.
In the Graphic Design category, Hyundai Motor won six awards for projects like Hyundai Advanced Air Mobility: Supernal and the Hyundai Heritage ‘PONY’ Exhibition Branding. Other notable wins include the Re:Style 2023 Exhibition Branding and The All-New SANTA FE Launching Book.
Hyundai also excelled in the Transportation category with three awards. These included accolades for the PONY Car Diffuser and Global Home Charger. Additionally, three future mobility concepts—DICE (Digital Curated Experience), SPACE (Spatial Curated Experience), and CITY POD—were recognised.
Robotics LAB's Impressive Achievements
The Group’s Robotics LAB was awarded five GOOD DESIGN® Awards for innovations like the X-ble Shoulder and MobED Delivery. Their Safety Inspection Robot achieved a clean sweep of major global design awards: Red Dot (‘Best of the Best’), iF, IDEA, and GOOD DESIGN®. Dong Jin Hyun noted that these awards reflect ongoing efforts towards robotic intelligence.
Many winning projects have also received other prestigious global awards such as iF Design Award and Red Dot Design Award 2024. The Hyundai Heritage ‘PONY’ Exhibition Branding notably won Gold at the IDEA Design Awards in 2024 after previous victories at iF Design Awards and Red Dot Design Awards.
Continued Success Across Categories
The Re:Style Keyring Collection earned recognition in Recycling while Multi-Lantern won in Lighting. The Sustainable Paper Package Series was acknowledged in Packaging. These diverse wins demonstrate Hyundai’s innovative approach across multiple categories.
{TABLE_X}The Robotics LAB’s Service Robot DAL-e has also been successful at major award events including Red Dot and both U.S. and Korean GOOD DESIGN®. MobED Delivery received two awards: Red Dot (‘Best of the Best’) and GOOD DESIGN®. This success highlights their dedication to meeting customer needs through robotics technology.
The Hyundai Heritage Retrace Collection Book ‘PONY’ also stood out by winning the ‘Curator’s Choice’ award at IDEA Design Awards 2024—the only entry to do so last year—emphasising excellence in heritage branding.
