Hyundai Motor Unveils IONIQ 6 N At Goodwood Festival Of Speed, Showcasing High-Performance EV Innovations
Hyundai Motor Company has introduced the IONIQ 6 N, its second high-performance electric vehicle (EV), at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in West Sussex, England. This model follows the successful IONIQ 5 N and incorporates advanced technologies from Hyundai N's motorsport programs. The IONIQ 6 N embodies Hyundai N's principles of Corner Rascal, Racetrack Capability, and Everyday Sportscar, offering exceptional handling and aerodynamic design for stability at high speeds.
The IONIQ 6 N boasts impressive performance metrics with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 3.2 seconds using N Launch Control and a top speed of 257 km/h. It features a revamped battery management system called N Battery, which optimizes temperature management for various track driving scenarios. This ensures consistent high performance through improved thermal management and increased battery coolant heater capacity.
Central to the IONIQ 6 N's driving experience is its advanced vehicle control software developed in-house by Hyundai. The N Active Sound + system enhances the auditory experience with dynamic audio options tailored to different driving scenarios. Drivers can choose from sound modes like 'Ignition,' 'Evolution,' and 'Lightspeed,' each offering a unique auditory experience.
The IONIQ 6 N also includes the innovative N e-Shift feature, simulating motorsport-inspired gear ratios for heightened responsiveness. This feature integrates seamlessly with key performance elements such as N Launch Control, N Drift Optimizer, and N Torque Distribution, ensuring a cohesive blend of control and power.
Aerodynamics play a crucial role in the design of the IONIQ 6 N, balancing downforce and drag reduction for optimal performance. Motorsport-inspired elements like the swan neck rear wing enhance stability during high-speed cornering while contributing to its aggressive appearance. The car is available in Performance Blue Pearl, adding depth to its visual identity.
The suspension geometry has been fully redesigned to improve handling precision and road holding. New stroke sensing ECS dampers allow for adjustable damping force based on driving conditions, enhancing ride quality and handling predictability.
Interactive Experience at Goodwood Festival
At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Hyundai showcased its commitment to innovation with an interactive booth near the Hillclimb course. Visitors could explore Hyundai's electrified lineup, including the newly unveiled IONIQ 6 N with optional performance parts. The festival featured models like the '14 WRC Rally 1 Hybrid and IONIQ 5 N TA Spec.
A highlight was the 'N Moment' demonstration run on July 10, featuring Hyundai's entire lineup in a synchronized showcase of automotive prowess. Attendees had exclusive access to a grandstand offering prime views of this thrilling event.
