Hyundai Motor India Retains Second Place In Passenger Vehicle Sales For FY25: Creta Performs Best
In FY25, Hyundai Motor India maintained its second-place standing among the country's passenger vehicle manufacturers, showcasing robust sales figures that outpaced its competitors. The company sold a total of 598,666 units within India, surpassing Tata Motors' sales of 553,585 units and Mahindra and Mahindra's 551,487 units. This solid performance underlines Hyundai's strong market presence and the significant demand for its vehicles among Indian consumers.
The significant contribution of SUVs to Hyundai's sales portfolio was notable, with these vehicles accounting for 68.5% of the company's domestic sales in FY25. Hyundai's SUV lineup, which includes models like the Exter, Venue, Creta, Alcazar, and Tucson, has proven particularly popular among Indian buyers. The Creta emerged as Hyundai's best-selling model during this period, further emphasizing the growing preference for SUVs in the Indian market.

Tarun Garg, the Whole-time Director and Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai Motor India, highlighted the company's achievements, saying, "Solidifying our position further in India, Hyundai Motor India continued its rein as the second largest PV original equipment manufacturer (OEM) in FY25, thanks to the unparalleled trust of our customers in the brand Hyundai. Our versatile SUV line-up grew stronger this financial year with the launch of the Hyundai Creta Electric and also the new Hyundai Alcazar." This statement reflects the company's ongoing efforts to innovate and cater to the evolving preferences of Indian consumers.
Furthermore, Hyundai's commitment to the Indian market is evident in its export figures. In FY25, the company exported 163,386 units, reinforcing its role as a critical export hub for the Hyundai Motor Company globally. This not only demonstrates Hyundai's manufacturing capabilities but also its strategic importance in the company's global operations.
The previous fiscal year, FY24, saw Hyundai selling 614,721 units domestically and exporting 163,155 units. These figures underscore the company's consistent performance and its pivotal role in both the domestic and international automotive markets.
Garg also announced that Hyundai had surpassed significant cumulative milestones, including more than 2.5 million SUV sales and 1.5 million Creta sales since the brand's inception. This achievement marks a significant milestone for Hyundai, showcasing the enduring popularity and reliability of its SUV lineup among customers.
