Hyundai Motor India Limited Reports Highest Domestic Sales In 2024

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has achieved a milestone with its highest-ever domestic sales in 2024, reaching 6,05,433 units. This marks a 0.55% increase from the previous year's 6,02,111 units. The achievement highlights Hyundai's growing influence in India's automotive sector, marking the third consecutive year of record sales.

In December 2024, Hyundai's total sales were 55,078 units, including 42,208 domestic and 12,870 export units. Domestic sales saw a slight decline of 1.27% compared to December 2023's 42,750 units. Export sales also decreased by 6.06%, dropping from last year's 13,700 units.

Hyundai Creta's Impact On Sales

The Hyundai Creta SUV played a crucial role in this success by achieving its highest-ever domestic sales of 1,86,919 units in a single year. This performance reaffirms Creta's status as a customer favourite and strengthens Hyundai's position as an SUV leader in the market.

For Q4 2024, Hyundai recorded total sales of 1,86,408 units. This figure represents a decline of 2.39% compared to Q4 2023's total of 1,90,979 units. The breakdown includes domestic sales of 1,46,022 units and export sales of 40,386 units.

SUVs & CNG Models Drive Growth

SUVs contributed significantly to Hyundai's domestic sales in CY 2024 with a record share of 67.6%. Meanwhile, CNG models accounted for 13.1% of domestic sales as customers increasingly opted for fuel-efficient alternatives.

Despite minor declines in exports, Hyundai's domestic market performance remains strong. The company's focus on SUVs and CNG models has been pivotal in maintaining growth momentum amidst industry challenges.

Export Performance Analysis

In terms of exports for CY 2024, HMIL shipped out 1,58,686 units. This number reflects a decrease of 3.05% from the previous year's export figure of 1,63,675 units.

Commenting on the company's performance for the year Mr Tarun Garg said: "HMIL has managed to sustain sales momentum in 2024 despite strong headwinds faced by the industry at large."

Q4 Sales Overview

The fourth quarter saw Hyundai's domestic sales at 1,46,022 units which is down by just under one percent compared to Q4 last year when they sold over one lakh forty-seven thousand vehicles domestically alone!

The introduction of Hy-CNG Duo technology resonated well with buyers leading to an increase in CNG contributions from ten point four percent last year up thirteen point one percent now!
