Hyundai Motor Group Enhances In-Car Experience Through Global Deployment Of HCloud In Equinix Data Centres
Hyundai Motor Group is enhancing its connected car services by deploying HCloud, a private cloud platform, in Equinix data centers worldwide. This move aims to improve service quality for over 10 million subscribers. The initiative responds to the increasing need for real-time data processing and seamless connectivity in connected and autonomous vehicles.
The Group's collaboration with Equinix involves using International Business Exchange (IBX) data centers across Asia, the US, and Europe. This setup connects HCloud to multiple public cloud providers like Amazon Web Services (AWS). The hybrid multicloud architecture ensures reliable connectivity, consistent service coverage, and reduced latency for global connected car services.

Hyundai Motor Group aims to double its CCS subscribers from 10 million in 2023 to 20 million by 2026. To achieve this, significant investments are being made in the development of HCloud. This platform will enhance in-car services, offering a personalized driving experience as more vehicles become connected by 2030.
Equinix's strategic locations in Seoul, Los Angeles, and Frankfurt were chosen for their global reach and high operational standards. These sites support Hyundai's transition to software-defined vehicles (SDVs), laying the groundwork for smarter mobility solutions. The proximity to major cloud providers ensures robust performance and scalability.
"The future of the automotive industry lies in connected cars," said Chris Jang, Managing Director at Equinix Korea. He emphasized that a hybrid multicloud infrastructure allows manufacturers to leverage cloud services while maintaining flexibility. This approach supports digital transformation and optimizes customer experiences.
Youngjoo Han, Vice President at Hyundai Motor Group, stated: "By leveraging Equinix’s global data centers, we are providing high-quality connected car service and improving user experience through reduced latency, stable global connectivity and enhanced scalability of our HCloud platform."
