Hyundai Motor Group's Executive Chair Euisun Chung Unveils Strategic Vision For 2025 Focused On Innovation And Teamwork
Hyundai Motor Group marked the New Year with a gathering at Hyundai Motorstudio Goyang, focusing on open dialogue with employees. Executive Chair Euisun Chung stressed the importance of confronting challenges directly in his 2025 New Year’s Address, reinforcing the Group's vision. Key executives engaged in a roundtable discussion about the future global business environment and the Group’s strategic direction, responding to employee inquiries.
Executive Chair Chung highlighted that innovation is integral to Hyundai Motor Group's identity. He stated, "Innovation is in Hyundai Motor Group’s DNA. If we continue to embrace change and pursue innovation, we can overcome any test or difficulty we may face." The Group aims to tackle both internal and external challenges while seeking global growth opportunities through innovation and teamwork.
Chung categorised challenges into ‘predictable’ and ‘unexpected’. He emphasised thorough preparation for predictable ones, noting that understanding context and trends is crucial for creating growth opportunities. For unexpected challenges, he pointed out the significance of fundamental capabilities like flexible processes and unified action to achieve shared goals.
The appointment of José Muñoz as Hyundai Motor’s first non-Korean CEO was highlighted by Chung as a testament to the Group's commitment to innovation. This move underscores their dedication to fostering a global culture where talent thrives regardless of nationality or background. Chung reiterated the importance of strategic investments and partnerships in key business areas.
During the event, more than 200 employees attended in person, with many others joining via livestream globally. Chung expressed gratitude for their efforts: "We achieved a lot last year," he said. "These achievements were the result of your tireless efforts to deliver the quality, trust and experience our customers expect."
Embracing Change Amid Global Dynamics
The year 2025 presents complex global dynamics due to geopolitical uncertainties, economic shifts, evolving consumer preferences, technological advancements in mobility, emerging competitors, and rapid innovation. Chung reinforced Hyundai Motor Group’s resilience and its ability to strengthen its position as a global mobility leader by finding opportunities within these challenges.
Chung concluded by stating that without challenges, complacency poses a greater risk than adversity itself. He added that success cannot be assumed based on past performance alone but should be pursued through proactive strategies that foster innovation.

An open culture where talent can thrive is essential for Hyundai Motor Group's resilience. The focus remains on creating an environment where creative individuals can fully demonstrate their capabilities. Chung emphasised this during his address: "Our greatest asset is our people. The roundtable discussion moderated by Hae In Kim involved key figures like HMG Vice Chair Jaehoon Chang and Kia President Ho Sung Song discussing future goals and methodologies. This interaction facilitated open communication between executives and employees worldwide.
The event concluded with Chung encouraging continued collaboration in 2025 to enhance Hyundai Motor Group’s collective vision: "We embrace challenges as opportunities to grow stronger and shape a brighter, more sustainable future."
