Hyundai Motor Company CEO José Muñoz Honoured As Leading Global Spanish Automotive Executive By La Tribuna De Automoción

Hyundai Motor Company President and CEO José Muñoz was honoured as the Leading Global Spanish Automotive Executive. This accolade was presented during the 30th anniversary gala of La Tribuna de Automoción, a prominent business and automotive publication in Spain. The event was presided over by Oscar Puente, Spain’s Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, who also acknowledged other industry leaders.

More than 200 officials and executives attended the gala. Notable attendees included world champion rally driver Carlos Saenz, Jordi Llinares from the Ministry of Industry, José Montilla, former Minister of Industry, Reyes Maroto, former Minister of Industry, and José Manuel Soria, another former Minister of Industry.

José Muñoz Named Leading Spanish Auto Executive

The award was presented to Muñoz by Javier Menéndez, editor and founder of La Tribuna de Automoción. The jury praised Muñoz for his remarkable achievements as the highest-ranking Spaniard in the automotive sector. They highlighted his success in breaking cultural barriers as Hyundai's first non-Korean CEO and noted his effective leadership in North America.

Muñoz expressed gratitude for this recognition. "This recognition is for all the hard-working men and women of Hyundai and Genesis. I’m so grateful for the trust of Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung, Vice Chair Jay Chang, our employees, dealer partners, shareholders and of course our customers," he stated. He also credited his success to the automotive industry in Spain and educational institutions like the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

In addition to Muñoz's accolade, Miguel Sebastián received recognition as the leading Spanish Public Administration official. José Vicente de los Mozos was honoured as the industry's leading national executive. These awards highlighted their significant contributions to Spain's automotive sector.

The jury commended Muñoz's disciplined planning process implemented across Hyundai’s regional markets during his tenure as global COO. His leadership has been instrumental in enhancing Hyundai's performance in North America.
