Hyundai Motor America Reports Record-Breaking Sales For December And Q4 In 2024
Hyundai Motor America achieved a milestone in December 2024, recording its highest-ever monthly sales. The company sold 78,498 units, marking a 4% increase from December 2023. This achievement was driven by significant growth in hybrid and electric vehicle sales. Hybrid sales surged by 85%, while electric vehicle sales rose by 12%. Retail sales also reached a new peak with 66,159 units, up 9% from the previous year.
The year 2024 was remarkable for Hyundai, setting new records in both total and retail sales. Total annual sales reached 836,802 units, a 4% increase from 2023. Retail sales also grew by 4%, reaching 742,009 units. This marked the fourth consecutive year of record-breaking retail performance for the brand. Fleet sales accounted for 11% of the total volume during this period.

In the fourth quarter of 2024, Hyundai's total sales hit a record high of 226,308 units, representing a 10% increase compared to Q4 of the previous year. Several models contributed to this success, including the Elantra N, Santa Fe HEV, Tucson HEV, and IONIQ 5. Electrified vehicle retail sales saw substantial growth of 64% during this quarter.
Hyundai's IONIQ 5 and Tucson HEV were among the standout models in terms of annual performance. Both set new yearly sales records alongside the Santa Fe HEV and Palisade. The IONIQ 5 alone saw a remarkable increase in December with a rise of 41% compared to December 2023.
Randy Parker has been appointed as CEO of Hyundai and Genesis Motor North America effective January 1, 2025. Parker will oversee operations across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico for both brands. He will also manage manufacturing facilities located in Alabama and Georgia.

The IONIQ 5 N received several accolades in recent months. It was named CarBuzz Best EV for 2025 and The Drive’s Best EV of 2024. Additionally, it secured a spot on Car and Driver's prestigious list of the top ten trucks and SUVs for three consecutive years.
Hyundai Motor America was recognised as Money’s Best Automaker Brand for the Money in 2025. Furthermore, J.D. Power ranked MyHyundai with Bluelink first among automakers’ ICE mobile apps for two consecutive years.
Safety and Innovation
Hyundai excelled in safety awards with a total of 22 models receiving IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK (TSP) and TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) titles in 2024. This achievement highlights Hyundai's commitment to safety across its range of vehicles.
The IONIQ 5 participated in an attempt to set a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the greatest altitude change by an electric car. This endeavour underscores Hyundai's focus on innovation within its electric vehicle lineup.
