Hyundai Motor Unveils Comprehensive 2025 Sustainability Report With Key Environmental Initiatives

Hyundai Motor Company has released its 2025 Sustainability Report, showcasing its dedication to sustainable business practices. The report outlines the company's achievements, goals, and future plans in sustainability. Since 2003, Hyundai has published these reports annually to communicate transparently with stakeholders like investors and customers globally.

The report is structured around three main pillars: Environment, Social, and Governance. Under the Environment pillar, Hyundai highlights projects aimed at enhancing vehicle circularity. This includes the Car-to-Car Project that uses recycled materials from old vehicles in new car production. Additionally, the company has made significant investments in renewable energy, such as Korea's largest corporate power purchase agreement (PPA).

Hyundai Motor Releases 2025 Sustainability Report

Hyundai's commitment to sustainable mobility is evident in both its vehicle offerings and production processes. José Muñoz, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, stated: "Hyundai is committed to sustainable mobility in the vehicles we offer and the processes we use to produce them. Hyundai has made incredible progress in reducing the environmental impact of our vehicles throughout their lifecycle, including the manufacturing process, with our ultimate goal of carbon neutrality by 2045."

The Social section of the report details Hyundai's involvement in global sustainability initiatives. The company has joined major alliances like the Responsible Business Alliance and Drive Sustainability. It also outlines supply chain risk screening programs and diversity initiatives aimed at executives and employees.

In terms of governance, Hyundai is working to improve board independence and diversity. Efforts include appointing senior independent directors and establishing an independent director council. Two new female directors have also been appointed to enhance decision-making transparency.

The report includes a "Sustainability Factbook" for better accessibility. This factbook contains three-year trends of key sustainability data aligned with global standards like the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).

Future Mobility Solutions

Hyundai Motor Company was established in 1967 and operates in over 200 countries with more than 120,000 employees. The company aims to transform into a Smart Mobility Solution Provider by investing in advanced technologies like robotics and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM). It continues efforts towards zero-emission vehicles using hydrogen fuel cell and EV technologies.
