Hyundai Ioniq 2 Concept Teased Ahead of IAA Munich 2025 Reveal
South Korean carmaker Hyundai has dropped the first teaser of its next electric concept, set for a global debut at the IAA Mobility Show in Munich next month. Set to be called the Hyundai Ioniq 2, the new model hints at a compact crossover positioned below the Kona Electric.
The three teaser images for the Ioniq 2 show the brand's latest "Art of Steel" design language, first seen on the new Santa Fe.

A slim LED strip dominates the front with hundreds of pixel LED lights making up the faux grille; the sides see a sloped roofline along with flared wheelarches, while the rear section of the Ioniq 2 gets a ducktail spoiler. This Art of Steel design language usage was confirmed by the fact that Hyundai used the caption "steel can evolve into something unexpected" when sharing the images on social media.
Inside, Hyundai promises a noticeable step forward in usability. The cabin is expected to feature a wide panoramic infotainment screen, complemented by ambient lighting and audio settings that adapt depending on drive modes or driver preferences.
Powertrain details remain under wraps, but the concept will be underpinned by Hyundai's E-GMP architecture, the same platform that supports other Ioniq models. This could mean shared hardware with the Kia EV3, including battery options of 58.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh, paired with a 204 hp motor.
Positioned as the smallest member of the Ioniq family, the Hyundai Ioniq 2 will likely bridge the gap between the recently revealed Inster EV and the larger Kona Electric. That would give Hyundai a stronger foothold in the fast-growing compact EV space, especially in Europe..
The Ioniq 2 concept will make its first appearance at Munich at the IAA show from September 9 to 14, where all the details of the latest member of Hyundai's EV family will be revealed. Production of the Inoniq is expected to start in 2026.
