Hyundai's Car Sales In India Decline To 47,727 Units In February 2025
Hyundai, a well-known South Korean automaker, holds a significant position in India's car market. It ranks as the second-largest car seller in the country, following Maruti Suzuki. However, February 2025 brought unexpected changes in the sales rankings. Let's delve into Hyundai's sales figures for that month and explore how they compare to previous trends.
In February 2025, Hyundai experienced a shift in its usual standing. Mahindra surpassed both Hyundai and Tata Motors to secure the second spot in car sales, trailing only Maruti Suzuki. This development marked a surprising turn of events in the automotive industry.

Hyundai typically sells over 50,000 cars monthly in India. However, in February 2025, their sales dropped to 47,727 units. This decline can be partly attributed to February having fewer days than other months. Despite this dip, Hyundai maintained its position ahead of Tata Motors.
When comparing year-on-year figures, Hyundai's sales decreased by 2.93% from February 2024 when they sold 50,201 cars. In January 2025, Hyundai had sold approximately 54,003 vehicles, indicating a notable drop in February.
Besides domestic sales, Hyundai exported 11,000 cars from India in February 2025. Including these exports, Hyundai Motor India's total sales for the month reached 58,727 units. This figure reflects both domestic and international demand for Hyundai vehicles.

In comparison, February 2024 saw Hyundai Motor India selling a total of 60,501 cars, which included 10,300 exports. This indicates a slight decline in overall sales performance year-on-year.
Variety of Offerings
Hyundai offers a diverse range of vehicles in India, including hatchbacks, sedans, and SUVs. Despite the recent dip in sales figures, Hyundai continues to be a major player in the Indian automotive market with its varied lineup.
The recent sales figures highlight a slight decline for Hyundai in February. However, Mahindra capitalised on this gap to claim second place. Notably, despite the decrease in sales numbers, Tata Motors did not surpass Hyundai's position.
