Hyundai Hope On Wheels Canada Launches With Over $4 Million For Paediatric Cancer Research And Care

Hyundai Auto Canada, along with its 226 dealers, has introduced Hyundai Hope On Wheels in Canada. This non-profit aims to support paediatric cancer patients and survivors by funding research and raising awareness. The organisation is in the final stages of becoming a federally registered non-profit. In 2025, over $4 million will be donated to Canadian institutions focused on improving cancer outcomes for children.

Hyundai Hope On Wheels was originally established by Hyundai Motor America in 1998. It has since become a major supporter of paediatric cancer research in the U.S. The Canadian branch marks the first step in its global expansion. The initiative will provide grants for research and donations for care and survivorship, reflecting the long-term impact of cancer diagnoses on patients' lives.

The network of Hyundai dealerships across Canada plays a crucial role in supporting this cause. From January 1, 2025, every new vehicle sale will contribute to Hyundai Hope On Wheels. Rein Knol, president of Hyundai Canada's National Dealer Council, stated, "Research for paediatric cancer remains drastically underfunded in Canada. On behalf of Hyundai Canada’s dealer network, we’re proud that this has become a keystone commitment for Hyundai Canada and of our role in supporting it."

Hyundai Canada's commitment to community support aligns with its brand ethos, ‘Progress for Humanity.’ The company aims to create brighter futures by supporting communities where its employees live and work. This initiative is part of their broader vision to help Canadian youth.

Steve Flamand, executive director of sales and digital strategy at Hyundai Canada, highlighted the importance of this initiative: "Children are the future, and they deserve every opportunity to grow, play and learn in a world free of paediatric cancer." Despite advancements in research, cancer remains the second leading cause of death among Canadian children aged 1-14. Approximately 1,000 children are diagnosed annually, with one in six not surviving.

The funds raised through Hyundai Hope On Wheels will support innovative research aimed at improving survival rates for children with cancer. This effort is made possible through partnerships with Hyundai's dealer network across Canada.
