Hyundai Recognised With 2025 Merit Gold Award For Commitment To Corporate Social Responsibility
Hyundai Motor America has been awarded the Gold Winner title in the 2025 Merit Awards for Corporate Social Responsibility. This accolade, in the business category, acknowledges Hyundai's 'Hyundai Hope' initiative, which aims to enhance community safety. The program includes partnerships with children's hospitals across the nation to promote child safety seat checks and pedestrian safety events.
Hyundai's commitment to safety extends beyond manufacturing vehicles. The company collaborates with hospitals like Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) to educate families on child passenger safety. These efforts are crucial, as nearly half of car and booster seats are improperly installed or used, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Brian Latouf, Hyundai Motor Group's global chief safety and quality officer, stated, "Hyundai is honored to receive this award recognizing our commitment to safety through partnerships with leading children’s hospitals nationwide." He emphasized that their responsibility includes empowering parents with knowledge and providing communities with resources for child protection.
The 'Hyundai Hope' initiative also focuses on pedestrian safety education. In collaboration with CHLA, Hyundai teaches children how to safely navigate busy streets in areas like Southern California. Last year alone, Hyundai organized seven child safety seat events with various partners, distributing nearly 2,500 car seats and educating over 4,500 families on car seat and pedestrian safety.
The Merit Awards evaluate submissions based on leadership, innovation, and positive work environments. Judged by a panel of journalists, executives, consultants, entrepreneurs, educators, and staff members from the Merit Awards team, these awards highlight significant contributions in business sectors.
