Hyundai Secures Five Vehicles On The 2025 Cars.com American-Made Index

Hyundai has achieved a notable presence on the 2025 Cars.com American-Made Index, with five of its vehicles being recognised. The Hyundai Santa Fe, Santa Fe Hybrid, IONIQ 5, Tucson, and Santa Cruz were all included in this ranking. This list highlights vehicles that are predominantly made in America, a factor increasingly valued by car buyers today.

The Cars.com American-Made Index evaluates vehicles based on several criteria. These include the location of final assembly, the percentage of U.S. and Canadian parts used, the origin of engines and transmissions, and the number of U.S. manufacturing employees relative to the automaker’s footprint. Over 400 model-year 2025 vehicles were analysed to identify this year's top 99.

Hyundai's Five Models on American-Made Index

Randy Parker, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor North America, stated, "Having five vehicles on the Cars.com American-Made Index underscores Hyundai’s deep commitment to U.S. manufacturing and innovation." He emphasised that this recognition reflects Hyundai's significant investment in American workers and its focus on meeting U.S. customer needs.

Hyundai's strong performance on this year’s index is attributed to its growing investment in U.S. production. Patrick Masterson from Cars.com noted that models like the Santa Fe, Tucson, and Santa Cruz earned their spots due to their assembly in Montgomery, Alabama, and substantial domestic parts content.

Hyundai Motor Group has announced plans to invest $21 billion in the U.S. between 2025 and 2028. This initiative aims to expand local manufacturing capabilities, strengthen supply chains, and accelerate next-generation technology development. The investment is expected to create around 100,000 direct and indirect jobs across the country.

The company operates two major manufacturing facilities in the U.S.: Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA) and Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA). HMMA celebrated its 20th anniversary recently and has produced over 6.27 million vehicles since opening.

Significant Economic Impact

The HMGMA facility in Georgia represents a $7.59 billion investment—the largest economic development project in Georgia's history—and is expected to create 8,500 jobs. It currently assembles models like the IONIQ 5 and the newly launched IONIQ 9.

In addition to Hyundai’s five recognised models on the index, Genesis placed its GV70 model on the list while Kia added five more vehicles. This brings Hyundai Motor Group’s total to an impressive eleven vehicles featured on the index.

For nearly four decades now, Hyundai has been contributing significantly to American growth through job creation and economic activity. The company supports approximately 570,000 jobs nationwide through its various operations.
