Hyundai Elantra Hybrid Wins 2025 Best Hybrid For The Money Award From Cars.com
The Hyundai Elantra Hybrid has been recognised as the 2025 Best Hybrid for the Money and the top choice in the compact car category by Cars.com. Additionally, the Hyundai Santa Fe HEV secured the title of Best Hybrid in the midsize SUV segment. These awards highlight Hyundai's expertise in hybrid technology and its commitment to offering value-driven vehicles.
In April 2025, Hyundai's hybrid sales surged by 46%, marking a record month for their HEV models. The Santa Fe HEV, along with Tucson PHEV and Tucson HEV, achieved new retail and total sales milestones. This growth underscores Hyundai's strong presence in the hybrid vehicle market.
Cars.com evaluated nine categories to determine winners, focusing on efficiency-cost ratings. This method assesses whether a hybrid's additional cost is justified by its mileage benefits. The evaluation excluded plug-in hybrids and did not consider equipment levels or ownership costs.
Ricky Lao, director of product planning at Hyundai Motor North America, stated, "As consumers evaluate the optimal solution for eco-friendly vehicles, Hyundai provides a wide range of product platforms and several propulsion systems." This recognition underscores Hyundai’s leadership in alternative propulsion technologies.
Jennifer Geiger from Cars.com noted that Hyundai excelled due to its high mpg ratings combined with competitive pricing. The Elantra Hybrid topped their list with the highest efficiency-cost rating among all analysed vehicles. Jenni Newman added that the Santa Fe Hybrid also excelled with strong fuel economy and pricing.
The Elantra Hybrid Blue offers an EPA estimated up to 54 MPG combined, leading its segment. The 2025 Elantra lineup introduces a new SEL Sport trim available with both ICE and hybrid powertrains. Meanwhile, the Santa Fe HEV is available in SEL, Limited, and Calligraphy trims for either FWD or AWD.
