Hyundai And Hyundai Hope On Wheels Donate $200,000 To Support Children's Hospital Of Orange County's Pediatric Health Initiatives
Hyundai has pledged $200,000 to the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) to enhance pediatric health services in Southern California. This commitment includes a $100,000 donation from Hyundai Hope, the corporate social responsibility arm of Hyundai Motor America, aimed at addressing CHOC's most pressing needs. Additionally, Hyundai Hope on Wheels, a nonprofit dedicated to combating childhood cancer, contributed another $100,000 for pediatric cancer research and support.
The funds were presented during a ceremony at CHOC's new outpatient tower in Orange, California. Dr. Lilibeth Torno, medical director at the Hyundai Cancer Institute at CHOC, expressed gratitude for Hyundai's support. "Our partnership with Hyundai is instrumental in helping us become the premier destination for pediatric oncology by enabling groundbreaking research and clinical excellence," she stated. The collaboration fosters an environment where innovation thrives.
Hyundai Hope on Wheels has been a significant contributor to pediatric cancer research over the past 27 years. This year alone, it has committed $27 million to advance research and support families affected by childhood cancer. The organization plans to continue awarding grants throughout the year to fund lifesaving research and bring hope to communities nationwide.
The event concluded with a Handprint Ceremony, a signature event of Hyundai Hope on Wheels. During this ceremony, children affected by cancer, along with doctors and Hyundai representatives, placed their handprints on a Hyundai vehicle. This act symbolizes their collective fight against pediatric cancer and their hope for finding a cure.
Hyundai also donated a 2025 Hyundai Palisade to CHOC. This vehicle will assist in transporting families around CHOC’s campus and delivering medications to patients with compromised immune systems. It provides essential support to vulnerable patients who rely on access to life-saving treatments.
