Hyundai Creta Marks 10 Successful Years In India - Over 1.2 Million Units Sold
South Korean carmaker Hyundai is celebrating 10 years of the introduction of its Creta SUV in India. First launched in 2015, over 12 lakh units of the Hyundai Creta have been sold in India, making it one of the most successful vehicles to be sold in recent times.
Hyundai lauched the Creta in 2015 with the second-generation of the SUV arriving five years later in 2020and the current version of the SUV hittig our roads in 2024. Over the years Hyundai has expanded the Creta's offerings with special editions such as the Knight Edition in 2022 and the Adventure Edition in 2024.

Hyundai Creta Dominates with Impressive Figures
Since its launch, the Hyundai Creta's annual sales figures have shown remarkable growth, jumping from 92,926 units in 2016 to an impressive 186,919 units by 2024. Furthermore, the model's variants equipped with a sunroof have proven to be especially popular, accounting for about 70% of its sales from January to June 2025.
The Hyundai Creta's appeal is evident in its status as the best-selling SUV in India for the first half of 2025, topping sales charts in all categories for three out of the six months. This can be attributed to the Creta's widespread appeal and its ability to attract a diverse range of buyers, including a significant increase in first-time owners, from 12% in 2020 to 29% in 2024. Offered in a choice of petrol, diesel, and electric powertrains, along with manual and automatic transmissions, the Creta caters to various preferences and needs.
Manufactured in India, the Hyundai Creta has also made its mark internationally, being exported to over 13 countries. To date, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) has exported more than 287,000 units, showcasing the Creta's global appeal.
Mr. Unsoo Kim, Managing Director of HMIL, expressed his pride in the Creta's journey, stating, "The journey of Hyundai Creta is deeply emotional, not just for us, but for every customer who made it a part of their lives.
