Hyundai Strengthens Partnership With Children's Hospital Of Michigan To Promote Child Passenger Safety

Hyundai Motor America has donated $25,000 to the Children's Hospital of Michigan's Injury Prevention Program. This initiative, part of Hyundai Hope, aims to enhance child passenger safety in Metro Detroit by providing more car seats and supporting safety education. The partnership has already benefited over 160 families and distributed nearly 140 car seats.

At a recent event at the Children's Hospital of Michigan Specialty Center, Hyundai and the hospital conducted a car seat safety check. Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians educated parents on proper car seat installation and usage. They also inspected seats for expiration dates, recalls, and fit. Families needing new seats received free replacements to ensure children's safety.

Renee Zarr, injury prevention coordinator at the hospital, highlighted the significance of correct car seat usage. "With the recent changes in Michigan car seat safety laws, it’s even more important for families to ensure they have the correct equipment to protect their children," she said. Improper installation often leads to injuries seen in their emergency department.

The Children’s Foundation president and CEO, Andrew Stein, emphasized the critical role of proper car seats in reducing injuries or fatalities by over 70 percent. He expressed gratitude for Hyundai's support in enhancing community prevention efforts that safeguard children's physical health.

For over 130 years, the Children's Hospital of Michigan has provided high-quality care for children and adolescents. With more than 40 pediatric specialties, it serves patients from across Michigan and beyond. It is recognized as one of America's top children's hospitals due to its comprehensive care offerings.

The Children's Foundation has been instrumental in promoting child health through strategic grants and advocacy for over 140 years. It continues to support initiatives that improve both physical and mental health outcomes for children across Michigan.
