Hyundai Teases Its Biggest EV Yet - Staria EV Inbound?

Hyundai has teased what it describes as its biggest electric vehicle yet, confirming the model will debut at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show and will be larger in overall size than the brand's current flagship electric SUV, the three-row Ioniq 9.

The teaser imagery released by Hyundai shows off the firm's badge on a curvy surface above which a single LED DRL runs, which resembles the design language of the Staria people mover, which is currently offered in ICE and hybrid guises.

Size comparisons reinforce this assumption, as the Staria measures over 5.2 metres in length, making it larger than the Ioniq 9. If it does go down the pure electric route, the teased electric Staria model would take the spot as Hyundai's largest vehicle to adopt a fully electric drivetrain.

Hyundai has indicated that the new electric vehicle will showcase advanced electric technology, including a high-voltage 800-volt electrical architecture seen on models like the Ioniq 9, 6 and 5, aligning it with the company's latest generation of dedicated electric models focused on faster charging capabilities.

Considering the size of the upcoming electric model, it could feature a large battery pack to support an extended driving range. Although Hyundai has not disclosed official capacity figures or performance specifications ahead of the global unveiling of the new EV, we expect to feature a battery pack at least as large as the 110.3 kWh unit in the Ioniq 9.

The possibility of a Staria-based electric vehicle aligns with Hyundai's previous electric commercial projects and its strategy to offer spacious, multi-purpose electric vehicles that cater to both family use and commercial mobility requirements.

Expected design carryovers from the Staria include a flat tailgate, vertically oriented pixel-style tail lamps, and sliding rear doors, features that would support passenger access and interior flexibility in a large electric people mover format.

The debut of the new EV at the Brussels Motor Show will mark Hyundai's next major step in expanding its electric vehicle portfolio. The new EV will be the firm's new flagship offering for 2026, and while details about an India launch still remain scarce, Hyundai could bring it here as a rival for the MG M9.
