Hyundai Aims For Championship Momentum At Road America 120 Race This August
Hyundai Motor America is gearing up for the Road America 120 race, part of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. The event will take place at the renowned Road America circuit, where Hyundai aims to secure its sixth consecutive Manufacturers’ Championship. Following a challenging but rewarding race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Hyundai is eager to demonstrate the capabilities of its Elantra N TCR cars on this iconic track.
The previous race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park was a test of endurance and strategy. Despite facing significant challenges, including a multi-car incident and a late-race tire puncture, the No. 99 Victor Gonzalez Racing Team's Hyundai Elantra N TCR secured a second-place finish. This performance underscored Hyundai's resilience and ability to earn crucial championship points under pressure.
Road America is known for its demanding 4.048-mile, 14-turn layout that includes high-speed straights and sweeping corners. This legendary circuit requires both speed and exceptional handling, qualities that are inherent in the Elantra N TCR. Hyundai’s lineup is prepared to leverage their experience and the car’s robust performance characteristics to maintain their championship lead.
Bryan Herta Autosport (BHA) is excited to introduce a fifth car for the rest of the 2025 season. Jon Miller and Lance Bergstein will drive the #18 Hyundai Elantra N TCR for BHA in the final four races, starting with Road America. Although they have competed throughout the season, this marks their debut with BHA.
Beyond racing, Hyundai continues its community outreach efforts in Wisconsin by supporting the Rally Round event on September 13 at Milwaukee Mile Speedway. In partnership with Wisconsin Children’s Hospital, this event will feature a Hyundai Hope On Wheels handprint ceremony, live entertainment, and family-friendly activities. A Hyundai race car will be displayed as part of this initiative to raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer research.
The Road America 120 race is scheduled for August 2 at 2:05 p.m. ET, with live coverage available on Peacock. This event presents an opportunity for Hyundai to showcase its commitment to both motorsport excellence and community support.
