Hunter Lawrence To Undergo Shoulder Surgery Following Injury At Tampa Supercross
Hunter Lawrence, a rider for Honda HRC Progressive 450SX, sustained a significant injury during the AMA Supercross event in Tampa, Florida. He suffered a raised and partially torn labrum in his right shoulder and multiple cracks in his humerus bone. Surgery on the labrum is scheduled for February 13 in Orange County, California. His recovery is expected to take eight to ten weeks, likely sidelining him for the rest of the Supercross season.
During his heat race, Lawrence experienced a severe crash that prevented him from participating in the main event. Medical evaluations confirmed the labrum injury, and surgery was chosen as the best option to ensure complete recovery. The normal healing time aligns with this decision, aiming for a stable return to racing.

With Hunter Lawrence out of action and his brother Jett recovering from knee surgery, Honda HRC Progressive will focus on their 250SX efforts. Chance Hymas will compete in the 250SX East division this weekend in Detroit. Jo Shimoda will resume racing in the 250SX West division on February 22 in Arlington, Texas.
"I'm going to get this fixed and come back 100%, to go and battle for the outdoor and SMX title again," Hunter stated. "Thank you to all my amazing partners, who continually are the reason all this is possible. We will get this 2025 turned around soon enough. See you at select upcoming races."
Brandon Wilson, Manager of Racing and Advertising at American Honda, expressed sympathy for Hunter's situation. "We're all very sorry for Hunter, especially considering the effort he and the team have put into this season," he said. Despite early challenges, Hunter showed promising speed before his injury.
The team acknowledges that racing can be harsh and notes that 2025 has been particularly challenging due to injuries affecting all riders. However, they remain optimistic about returning to their previous success levels soon.
