How Hispano Suiza Carmen Sagrera Is Crafted: Five Essential Steps In Building A Unique Hypercar
The Hispano Suiza Carmen Sagrera is a remarkable hypercar, introduced last June to commemorate the brand's 120th anniversary. It signifies advancements in performance, efficiency, and driving range. With four electric motors delivering 1,114 hp, it accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 2.6 seconds, offering an exhilarating experience for drivers. This exclusive model is meticulously handcrafted at the company's Barcelona headquarters.
The production of the Hispano Suiza Carmen Sagrera begins with pre-assembly and battery production. The process runs parallel to the customer's vehicle configuration. As a highly customisable model, each unit aligns with the brand's hyperlux concept. The design team collaborates closely with future owners to tailor the car to their preferences and update them on production progress.
During pre-assembly, various components like front and rear subframes, suspension systems, axle shafts, and dashboards are prepared. The steering is mounted on the front subframe while the rear subframe supports inverters and propulsion systems. Simultaneously, a technical team constructs the 103 kWh battery pack in-house, providing up to 480 km of driving range.
The next phase involves assembling the chassis by fitting body elements onto a carbon-fibre monocoque. This meticulous process ensures each piece fits perfectly. Interior elements are also installed during this stage. Following this, painting and upholstery work begins according to customer specifications.
Hispano Suiza technicians hand-paint the vehicle in colours chosen by customers from countless options offered by the brand. The final treatment of body parts is completed alongside installing wiring, cooling systems, steering components, and brackets. The rolling chassis components such as suspension, brakes, and wheels are assembled concurrently.
Final Assembly and Validation
As production nears completion, focus shifts to final assembly and interior adjustments. This includes installing infotainment systems and comfort features along with exterior emblems featuring a stork motif. Once assembled, validation occurs through test drives on roads and tracks at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya near company facilities.
After thorough checks confirm all systems function correctly, the vehicle is delivered to its new owner about eight months after starting production. This ensures they enjoy an exceptional driving experience with their unique hypercar.
