Honda's #93 MMG Team Triumphs In The LP Building Solutions 120 At Watkins Glen International

Honda celebrated a significant victory at Watkins Glen International, with the #93 MMG Honda Civic Type R TCR driven by Karl Wittmer and LP Montour winning the LP Building Solutions 120. This marked the fifth round of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season, where MMG showcased an impressive performance. The previous day, Montour secured pole position for the team, continuing their success from Mid-Ohio earlier in the month.

As the race commenced, Montour maintained the lead for 29 laps. Despite briefly falling to fourth place after a pit stop and driver change, Wittmer quickly regained the lead by lap 38. The race concluded under a full caution, with Wittmer crossing the finish line first. MMG dominated by leading 49 out of 57 laps.

The triumph at Watkins Glen was part of a broader success for Honda and Acura teams across various series. They achieved pole positions and victories in IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, and NTT INDYCAR SERIES. This weekend sweep highlighted their competitive edge in motorsports.

Among other Honda-powered entries, the #89 HART team of Tyler Chambers and Chad Gilsinger finished fourth. They overcame early contact with a competitor to secure their third top-five result this season. Meanwhile, William Tally and Tim Lewis in the #5 KMW Motorsports with TMR Engineering Honda finished sixth.

Karl Wittmer expressed his excitement: "That was incredible. We started off the weekend strong. All the sessions were well executed by everybody on the team. Our lap times remained competitive all the way through." He praised Montour's stint and credited teamwork for their success.

LP Montour shared his thoughts: "I picked the perfect one to win. We did very well this weekend. We topped both practice sessions, qualified on pole, and led 90% of the race." He acknowledged MMG's efforts in providing a strong car and looked forward to maintaining momentum as they head to Canada for their next race.

Upcoming Race
