Honda Racing Corporation USA And Phillips 66 Lubricants Join Forces For Acura MSR ARX-06 In IMSA Championship
Phillips 66 Lubricants is set to be the main sponsor for the #93 Acura Meyer Shank Racing GTP car in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. This collaboration with Honda Racing Corporation USA (HRC US) aims to enhance the durability and performance of the Acura ARX-06 race car, targeting a championship win in 2025. The partnership will also serve as a testing ground for Phillips 66's racing and road car products.
Honda Racing Corporation USA is expanding its involvement in the series, moving from a manufacturer role to a more operational one. This shift includes developing personnel and technology for hybrid electrified racing. HRC US will manage the #93 car, while Acura Meyer Shank Racing will oversee the #60 car. Both cars will benefit from Phillips 66's expertise in oil formulation.
Phillips 66 Lubricants sees this partnership as an opportunity to use the Acura ARX-06 as a 'rolling laboratory.' This allows them to refine oil blends for both race and road vehicles. As the current oil supplier for Honda and Acura service centres, Phillips 66 is eager to strengthen its relationship with the Acura brand through this collaboration.
The partnership also involves crafting a specific engine oil formula for the Acura ARX-06. This effort is part of a season-long sponsorship and research deal between HRC US and Phillips 66 Lubricants. The collaboration aims to push vehicle performance boundaries through premium oil products.
HRC US is broadening its business operations by engaging in sponsorships, B2B activities, accessories, and planned merchandise. This expansion aligns with their goal of developing new commercial skills and opportunities within their New Business Division. The partnership with Phillips 66 supports these objectives by providing a platform for innovation.
David Salters, President of Honda Racing Corporation USA, expressed enthusiasm about working with Phillips 66 Lubricants: "We are delighted to partner with the world-class Phillips 66 Lubricants. This collaboration allows us to develop our people and technology further in a new era of running our pinnacle ARX-06 electrified race car."
Andy Giffhorn, Vice President of Phillips 66 Lubricants, shared similar sentiments: "To collaborate with a long-term customer in the racing industry is beyond exciting. Not only are we providing oil for the Acura ARX-06, we’re working together to push the boundaries of innovation in vehicle performance through premium oil products."
