Honda Unveils Fastport: A New Micromobility Solution For Last-Mile Delivery
Honda is set to introduce Fastport, a new micromobility venture, at Eurobike in Frankfurt, Germany, from June 25-29, 2025. This initiative will showcase the Fastport eQuad, an all-electric vehicle designed for urban deliveries. The eQuad aims to enhance efficiency and reliability in last-mile logistics by using bike lanes for quicker deliveries.
The Fastport eQuad is equipped with Honda Mobile Power Pack swappable batteries and software-defined features. It addresses urban congestion and meets the growing demand for faster deliveries. The vehicle's design allows it to operate smoothly in bike lanes, reducing traffic and improving delivery times.
Fastport's Fleet-as-a-Service (FaaS) model offers businesses a comprehensive solution for optimizing delivery operations. This includes swappable batteries, cargo containers, and AI-powered dashboards providing real-time insights. The platform ensures secure access to cloud-based services with over-the-air updates.
The eQuad features a pedal-by-wire powertrain and regenerative braking system for energy efficiency. It also includes automatic parking brakes for safety. Designed with rider comfort in mind, it has a UV-coated canopy, ventilation fan, and full-frontal enclosure.
The Fastport eQuad will be manufactured at Honda's Performance Manufacturing Center in Ohio. This facility specializes in small-volume production using both domestic and global parts. The center's expertise makes it ideal for producing micromobility vehicles like the eQuad.
The eQuad comes in two sizes: large and small. The large model measures 144 inches long and can carry up to 650 pounds at a maximum speed of 12 mph. The smaller version is still undergoing range testing.
Engagement with Logistics Companies
Fastport is collaborating with major logistics firms in North America and Europe for pilot tests before the production launch next year. These partnerships aim to refine the eQuad's capabilities and ensure it meets industry needs effectively.
"The Fastport team has worked tirelessly to create the Fastport eQuad, a zero-emission alternative to delivery vans that solves the challenge of last mile urban logistics by meeting the needs of urban residents expecting on-demand deliveries of packages, groceries and other items," said Jose Wyszogrod, general manager and founding member of Fastport.
About Honda's New Venture
Fastport emerged from Honda's New Business Innovation Lab in California. This initiative brings together researchers, designers, and engineers to collaborate with global logistics companies on innovative solutions for urban mobility challenges.
Honda has been manufacturing vehicles in America for over four decades. In 2024, nearly all Honda vehicles sold in the U.S. were produced in North America. The company continues to expand its electrified lineup with models like the Prologue SUV and CR-V e:FCEV.
The upcoming Eurobike event will provide an opportunity for attendees to explore Fastport's ecosystem of FaaS solutions further. Visitors can engage with experts at the Fastport booth to learn more about this innovative venture.
