Honda Elevate "Dark" Edition Launched In Japan: How It Differs From Its Indian Counterpart
Honda has introduced the Elevate SUV in Japan, where it is known as the WR-V. This model now features a Black Style version available in Z and Z+ trims.
Exterior
In Japan, the Honda WR-V Black Style includes black door handles, black ORVMs, a black shark fin antenna, and black alloy wheels with black nuts. The Black Style offers a combination of black exterior highlights and an all-black interior, providing customers with various colour options, including Crystal Black Pearl.

Interior
Inside, it maintains an all-black theme similar to India's Black Editions but lacks the Rhythmic Ambient Lighting system found in India's Signature Black Edition.
The Japanese WR-V Black Style comes with fabric seats instead of leatherette ones seen in India. Customers can mix and match the all-black interior theme with any exterior colour for unique combinations. Offering such options in India could potentially boost sales for HCIL.
Engine Specifications
The Elevate is powered by a 1.5L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine that delivers 119 bhp of peak power and 145 Nm of peak torque. It is paired with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT transmission.

Pricing In Japan
In Japan, Honda has launched a similar concept called Black Style for the WR-V, which is essentially a rebranded Elevate. The starting price is JPY 2,483,800 (approximately Rs 14.67 lakh). Unlike India's versions that only come in Crystal Black Pearl shade, Japan's Black Style allows any exterior colour choice.
Honda Elevate's Impact In India
The launch of the Elevate SUV has significantly strengthened Honda Cars India Limited's (HCIL) position in the Asian market. This introduction was crucial for Honda to keep up with changing market trends. The Elevate also plays a vital role in Honda's exports, contributing to nearly half of its total sales.
In January 2025, Honda released the Elevate Black Edition and Signature Black Edition in India, starting at Rs 15.51 lakh (Ex-showroom). These editions feature an all-black theme for both interiors and exteriors, along with a Black Edition badge on the tailgate. They are based on the top-spec ZX trim available in India.
DriveSpark Thinks
The introduction of these models reflects Honda's strategy to adapt to market demands while enhancing its product offerings across different regions. By offering diverse options like these special editions, Honda aims to cater to varying customer preferences globally.
