Honda Commemorates 50 Years Of Gold Wing With Special Events At Daytona Bike Week

American Honda is expanding its presence at the upcoming Bike Week event in Daytona Beach, Florida. The event, running from February 28 to March 9, will feature a large activation area celebrating the Gold Wing touring bike's 50th anniversary. This space, located outside Daytona Speedway, will cover nearly 32,000 square feet and include a display tent and demo-ride staging area.

The Gold Wing model was first introduced in 1975 and has since become synonymous with motorcycle touring. To commemorate this milestone, Honda recently unveiled the 2025 Gold Wing platform featuring special colours and logos. The pop-up museum within the tent will showcase each generation of the Gold Wing alongside historical images and memorabilia documenting its evolution and customer use.

Honda has planned various interactive activities for attendees at the display. These include "story-time" and Q&A sessions with Lee Edmunds and Matthew Miles, authors of a new coffee-table book celebrating five decades of the Gold Wing. Limited autographed editions of this book will be available for purchase.

Japanese artist Makoto Endo will also make live appearances, creating unique images of the Gold Wing using chopsticks. Additionally, Honda will showcase a wide range of current powersports models at the event.

The demo area will offer rides on local routes with the 2025 50th Anniversary Gold Wing (both standard and Tour versions). Other motorcycles available for test rides include Rebel 1100 and 500 cruisers, Africa Twin, Transalp NC750, NX500 adventure bikes, CBR650R and CBR1000RR sport bikes, CB650R naked bike, and CRF300L dual-sport bike.

A roller demo will allow attendees to experience Honda’s E-Clutch technology firsthand. This feature adds to the excitement for motorcycle enthusiasts eager to try out new innovations.

Colin Miller, Manager of Experiential Marketing at American Honda, expressed enthusiasm about the event: "The Gold Wing is an extremely significant model in Honda’s history—particularly in the U.S.—and we’re excited for our customers to help us celebrate its 50th birthday."

Miller highlighted how enthusiasts have influenced the development of the Gold Wing over five decades by using it to express their passion for motorcycle touring. He added that gathering together at Daytona Bike Week is an ideal way to mark this important milestone.

The celebration promises to be a memorable occasion for both long-time fans and newcomers interested in exploring Honda's rich history in motorcycle touring. Attendees can look forward to engaging activities while experiencing some of Honda's latest models firsthand.
