Honda Cars India Reports Significant Sales Decline in April 2025
Honda Cars India experienced a notable downturn in sales during April 2025, with a 55.18% drop compared to the same month the previous year. The company sold only 4,871 vehicles, a sharp decline from the 10,867 units sold in April 2024. This decrease highlights the challenges Honda faces in both domestic and international markets.
Domestic sales were particularly concerning, with only 3,360 units sold in April 2025. This represents a 22.78% decrease from the 4,351 cars sold in April 2024. Compared to March 2025's sales of 7,228 units, there was a significant month-on-month drop of 53.51%. This volatility underscores the difficulties Honda encounters in maintaining its sales momentum.

The situation worsens when examining exports. Honda exported just 1,511 cars in April 2025, marking a substantial 76.81% decline from the 6,516 cars exported in April 2024. This sharp drop further emphasizes the hurdles Honda faces not only domestically but also in its international operations.
In response to these challenges, Mr. Kunal Behl, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Honda Cars India Limited, discussed strategic adjustments made by the company. "Considering the prevailing market scenario and subdued consumer sentiment, we have moderately curtailed our strategic marketing spends in April in order to maintain an optimum market inventory across our network. This ensures operational efficiency and keeps dealers lean and ready for demand," he stated.
Behl also mentioned plans to attract more customers by adapting to market demands. "We are introducing some variants of the Elevate at an attractive new price point with added benefits in May to ensure greater value for our customers." This move signifies Honda's attempt to boost sales by offering better value amidst fierce competition and changing market dynamics.

The introduction of new models like the Elevate SUV and continued performance of models such as Amaze and City show Honda's struggle against rising competition both domestically and internationally. These recent figures indicate a challenging road ahead as the company navigates the shifting landscape of India's automotive industry.
Honda Cars India's performance in April 2025 paints a grim picture of the difficulties faced amid evolving market conditions and consumer sentiments. The significant decline in both domestic sales and exports has posed a major setback for the company.
The company is working to realign its strategy and offerings to better meet the demands of a highly competitive market. Honda's efforts to adjust its product lineup and pricing demonstrate its commitment to overcoming these obstacles and maintaining its presence in the Indian automotive sector.
