Honda Cars India Achieves Record Exports Driven By Elevate SUV

In a recent announcement, Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) has revealed its performance figures for the financial year 2024-25, with a notable increase in exports, particularly of the Elevate model. The automaker achieved a total sales volume of 126,151 units, marginally up from the previous year's 124,173 units.

This modest rise represents a 1.59 per cent year-on-year growth. The surge in exports played a significant role in this growth, with overseas sales reaching 60,226 units, marking a 60 per cent increase from the previous year and setting a new record for the company.

The significant jump in exports was largely attributed to the Honda Elevate, which saw robust demand in markets outside India, particularly in Japan. This export growth contributed to balancing the overall sales figures for HCIL, especially in light of the domestic market's challenges. The company recorded 65,925 units in domestic sales, alongside the remarkable export figures. March 2025 alone saw HCIL achieving 7,228 units in domestic sales and 4,656 units in exports. However, compared to March 2024, these numbers indicate a 14.7 per cent decline in overall March sales, reflecting the fluctuating demand within the automotive sector.

Kunal Behl, HCIL's Marketing and Sales Vice President, remarked on the company's performance, noting that despite the domestic market's challenges, HCIL's export strategy, particularly for the Elevate, helped maintain a positive growth momentum. He also highlighted the introduction of the third-generation Honda Amaze, which has further solidified HCIL's presence in the family sedan segment. The updated Honda Amaze was launched in December 2024 at an ex-showroom price of ₹7.99 lakh, which was later adjusted to ₹8.09 lakh in January 2025. This model continues to compete with rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor.

The third-generation Honda Amaze boasts several updates, including a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine capable of delivering 89 bhp and a peak torque of 110 Nm. This engine is paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission (CVT), catering to a wide range of driving preferences. Among its standout features, the Amaze is now the most budget-friendly car in India to offer an Advanced Driver Aids System.

Additionally, it includes LED lighting, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, projector fog lamps, remote engine start, a semi-digital driver's display, and connected car technology. The vehicle also comes equipped with a 6-speaker sound system and a lane watch camera, enhancing the driving experience and safety for its occupants.

This achievement underscores HCIL's strategic focus on expanding its export markets while continuing to innovate and upgrade its product lineup to meet the diverse needs of customers both domestically and abroad. It also reflects the company's commitment to maintaining a strong position in the competitive automobile industry by leveraging the popularity of models like the Elevate and the third-generation Amaze.
