Honda And Acura EV Owners To Access Tesla Supercharger Network Starting June 2025
Starting June 2025, Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX owners in the United States will have access to over 20,000 Tesla Superchargers. This access is facilitated by the introduction of the first Honda-approved NACS-CCS DC fast-charging adapter. The adapter has been rigorously tested for safety and compatibility with these vehicles, ensuring a reliable charging experience at any NACS DC fast-charging point.
Customers can purchase this new adapter from authorised Honda and Acura dealerships across the U.S. beginning in June. Pricing details will be announced closer to its market release. Owners will receive notifications via the HondaLink and Acura EV apps when adapters become available. These apps will also help locate authorised Supercharger locations.
By 2030, Honda aims to provide its EV drivers with access to around 100,000 DC fast-charge points throughout North America. This includes networks like Tesla Supercharger, IONNA, EVgo, and Electrify America. Ryan Harty from American Honda Motor Co., Inc., stated that this expansion aims to offer industry-leading fast-charging access for their customers.
"Adding Tesla Supercharger network access to the charging networks already available to our EV customers means industry-leading fast-charging access for Honda and Acura EV drivers," said Ryan Harty, assistant vice president of Sustainability & Business Development at American Honda Motor Co., Inc.
Tesla mandates using approved adapters at its Supercharger stations to ensure safety and reliability. Consequently, Honda strongly advises using only approved adapters when charging at these stations. Using unapproved adapters may lead to damage not covered by vehicle warranties.
The new adapter is the sole DC fast-charging option approved by Honda for use with their vehicles. It has undergone extensive testing for safety performance and compatibility with both the Prologue and ZDX models.
