Honda's 0 Series Saloon Achieves Best EV Design Recognition At 2025 Top Gear Awards
Honda's 0 Series has been awarded "Best EV Design" at the 2025 Top Gear Awards, recognising its sleek and futuristic design. The series showcases Honda's user-focused philosophy and innovative technology, including the ASIMO OS and Level 3 autonomous driving. Production of the Honda 0 Saloon is set to begin in 2026, with a global rollout of seven new models by 2030 across North America, Japan, and Europe.
The Honda 0 Series was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, featuring prototypes of the Honda 0 Saloon and Honda 0 SUV. These models embody Honda's "Thin, Light, and Wise" philosophy, aiming to expand design possibilities and enhance driving experiences. The series is designed to redefine mobility through thoughtful design and advanced technology.
The ASIMO OS is a key innovation in the series, offering ultra-personalised user experiences by understanding occupant emotions and intentions. This system adjusts interior settings accordingly to enhance comfort. Additionally, Level 3 automation capabilities allow hands-free driving under specific conditions, improving safety and convenience for users.
The exterior styling of the Saloon features a one-motion form characterised by a line rising smoothly from front to rear. Its low and wide design expresses the vehicle's suppleness and dynamism. The upright side glass creates an expansive side panel while narrowing towards the side sills to accentuate the tyres.
The interior boasts a simple yet intuitive human-machine interface (HMI), providing a sophisticated user interface (UI). Despite its sporty styling with a low vehicle height, the Saloon offers more spacious interior space than expected from its exterior appearance. This combination sets it apart from other vehicles in its class.
Greg Potts, Features Editor at TopGear.com, commented on the prototypes unveiled at CES 2025: "The 0 Saloon and 0 SUV prototypes both look incredible. They’re gloriously futuristic in their design." He noted that they are nearly ready for real-world use. Potts added that Honda's approach is wise for getting these EVs onto roads quickly.
Future Plans for Global Rollout
Rebecca Adamson, Head of Automobile at Honda Motor Europe UK, expressed pride in receiving the award from Top Gear: "This recognition is a testament to the passion, creativity, and relentless innovation of Honda." She emphasised how this accolade pushes boundaries to redefine what an electric vehicle can be.
Honda plans to launch the production model of the Saloon in Europe by 2027 as part of its flagship lineup. The company aims to introduce seven new models globally by 2030 across North America first before expanding into Japan followed by Europe.
