Helix Appoints Graham Belgum As New Chief Executive Officer To Drive Global Expansion

Graham Belgum has been appointed as the new CEO of Helix, taking over from co-founder Darren Cairns. Cairns will remain with the company in a senior advisory role. Belgum's appointment is effective from 2 June 2025. He brings extensive experience in electrification, having held leadership roles at Fortescue Zero, First Group, and Hinduja Group.

Helix, known for its high-performance electric powertrains, is based in Milton Keynes, UK. The company manufactures scalable high-power-density electric motors and inverters. These technologies are used in various sectors such as automotive, aerospace, marine, and defence. Helix's products have been applied in Formula E motorsport, hypercars like the Czinger 21c and Aston Martin Valkyrie, and other high-growth markets.

Graham Belgum Named CEO of Helix

Darren Cairns expressed confidence in Belgum's leadership: "As one of Helix’s founders, this company has been an integral part of my professional life... I’m certain Graham is the right person to lead this business." Cairns co-founded Helix 27 years ago and will continue to contribute as an advisor.

Belgum previously served as General Manager for Heavy Industry at Fortescue Zero. There he developed modular battery power systems for off-road applications like mining. Before that, he was President and CEO of Optare, leading its electrification program and rebranding to Switch Mobility.

Helix has recently strengthened its senior management team with key appointments including Warren Roberts as Chief Operating Officer and Dr. Mike Bolen as Sales Director for North America. The company's headquarters and production facility are located in Milton Keynes.

Graham Belgum commented on his new role: "I’m thrilled to be joining Helix at this truly exciting time... the company is perfectly placed as we accelerate our growth across the globe." He acknowledged Cairns' contributions over the past three decades.

About Helix

The company's proprietary Scalable Core Technology products offer exceptional performance for electric and hybrid vehicles. This includes motorcycles and boats along with next-generation industrial applications.

The appointment of Graham Belgum marks a significant step for Helix as it continues its global expansion while maintaining its reputation for innovation in electric propulsion solutions.
