Top Maruti Suzuki Hatchbacks Sold In May 2025: Swift Continues To Dominate!
In May 2025, hatchback sales in India reached 74,100 units, significantly surpassing sedan sales of 31,106 units. Despite this, the overall demand for hatchbacks is declining as SUVs gain popularity. Maruti Suzuki's Swift, WagonR, and Baleno together captured a 54% market share in the hatchback segment. That being said, here are the top 6 Maruti Suzuki hatchbacks sold in May 2025.
Even though Maruti Suzuki reported lower sales figures, the Swift led with 14,135 units sold but saw a 27.11% decline from May 2024's 19,393 units. The Maruti Suzuki WagonR followed with a slight dip of 3.75%, selling 13,949 units compared to last year's 14,492 units.

Furthermore, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno also faced a decrease in sales by 9.53%, recording 11,618 units sold against the previous year's 12,842 units. Both Baleno models recently underwent crash tests and received favourable safety ratings.
On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki Alto's sales dropped by 35.24%, with only 4,970 units sold compared to last year's figure of 7,675 units. This shows a clear preference drop for entry-level hatchbacks in Indian car market.
Lower down the order were Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Maruti Suzuki Ignis with declines of over 43% and nearly 12% respectively; Celerio sold just under 2,000 while Ignis managed slightly fewer than that number too! S-Presso's performance was similarly lacklustre at 18.9% lower than previously noted figures.
