GM Rewards Loyalty Program Enhances Benefits With New Mastercard From Barclays
General Motors has revamped its GM Rewards loyalty program and introduced the GM Rewards Mastercard in collaboration with Barclays US Consumer Bank. The updated program simplifies earning and redeeming points across GM brands for vehicles, services, parts, and accessories. Members can also use points for digital services like OnStar plans and Super Cruise, a hands-free driving technology available on many roads in the U.S. and Canada.
The new GM Rewards Mastercard offers cardmembers several benefits. These include 30,000 bonus points after spending $1,000 within 90 days of opening an account. Additionally, cardholders earn up to 10x points on eligible GM purchases and 3x points on other purchases like fuel and groceries. Points can be redeemed for new vehicles, account balances with GM Financial, parts, accessories, and services.
Ralph Darmo, VP of loyalty programs at GM, stated that the company has led the U.S. automotive industry in loyalty for a decade. He added that they are now offering members easier access to savings opportunities and exclusive experiences such as trackside access at racing events.
GM Rewards members can combine their points with employee, dealer, and supplier discount programs if eligible. Customers of GM Financial can also apply their points towards account balances. The new card is issued by Barclays and expands its portfolio of co-branded credit cards.
Denny Nealon, CEO of Barclays US Consumer Bank, expressed pride in partnering with GM and Mastercard to offer a credit card that provides real value to customers. He highlighted the industry-leading rewards and flexible redemption options available through the GM Rewards Mastercard.
Upcoming Business Card Launch
Later this year, GM and Barclays plan to introduce the GM Business Mastercard for business customers. This card will offer a higher earn rate on GM purchases along with expanded redemption options tailored for businesses.
John Levitsky from Mastercard commented on the partnership with GM and Barclays. He noted that the new card combines security with valuable benefits that enhance the cardmember experience both on and off the road.
Loyalty Program Features
The free-to-join GM Rewards program allows members to earn valuable points per dollar spent across Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac brands, and services. Key updates include earning 3x points on eligible purchases and 1 point per $5 spent on new or certified pre-owned vehicles. There are no maximum point limits or vehicle restrictions.
Members can gift or transfer points to other members or redeem them for exclusive events. Points can also be applied towards loan or lease balances with GM Financial under certain conditions.
